HONOLULU — Attorney Michael P. Koskoff has been elected Vice President (President-Elect) of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an exclusive organization limited to the 100 top trial lawyers in the nation who represent injured clients in damage claims. Koskoff is the only member from Connecticut.
His two-year term as Vice President will be followed, in 2011, by a two-year term as president of the nationwide organization.
“Mike Koskoff is one of America’s most respected lawyers. He is a thoughtful teacher and an innovator in the court room, all of which make him uniquely qualified to lead the Inner Circle of Advocates,” said Honolulu Attorney Mark Davis, newly-elected President of the Inner Circle.
The Inner Circle of Advocates was founded in 1972 as an idea exchange to assist members with complex cases. To be eligible for membership, a candidate must have won multiple jury verdicts in excess of $1 million and must have tried a minimum of 50 cases to verdict. In addition, the candidate must undergo a rigorous screening process that includes interviews with fellow trial lawyers, defense attorneys, and judges to ensure that each candidate meets the Inner Circle’s requirements of highest professional and ethical standing.
Koskoff, a principal of the law firm Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder, has practiced law in Connecticut for more than 30 years. He is a member of the faculty of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America’s National College of Advocacy. In 2008, he was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Connecticut Trial Lawyers’ Association.
Widely known for his courtroom litigation experience, Koskoff has handled major medical malpractice cases, aviation cases, personal injury cases, drug product liability, anti-trust, civil rights and class actions. A resident of Westport, Koskoff has been featured on the cover of Connecticut Magazine and listed in The Best Lawyers in America™. He lectures frequently to trial lawyer groups throughout the nation, is featured on numerous educational tapes for lawyers and has published many articles about trial technique.
In addition to his work for injury victims, Koskoff handled litigation that was responsible for integration of the police and fire departments in Bridgeport and New Haven, He was awarded the Dedicated Service Award of the National Association of Black Patrolmen, the Waverly Jones Freedom Award of the Greater Bridgeport NAACP, and the Dedicated Service Award of the Afro-American Educators Association.
Michael Koskoff is responsible for sponsoring an annual lecture series at Quinnipiac College School of Law, where he served as a member on the Advisory Board, and helped to establish the Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder Trial Courtroom at the University of Connecticut Law School.
Koskoff is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 2008, he was named a Fellow of The International Society of Barristers.
